3. Your Responsibilities

By using Koina, you agree to:- Provide accurate, truthful, and up-to-date profile information
- Use the app in a respectful, lawful, and honest manner
- Keep your login credentials secure and confidential
- Take full responsibility for your interactions with other usersYou are responsible for any content you post or share, including hangouts you create and messages you send.

4. Prohibited Conduct

You may not use Koina to:- Post or share content that is offensive, harmful, harassing, abusive, hateful, discriminatory, pornographic, or illegal
- Impersonate others or provide false information
- Spam, scam, solicit, or advertise
- Harass, stalk, or intimidate other users
- Violate another user’s privacy
- Attempt to hack, reverse-engineer, or disrupt Koina’s functionality
- Use the app if you are under 18We reserve the right to remove content or suspend accounts that violate these rules.

5. User-Generated Content & Interactions

Koina allows users to create "hangouts" (group events) and send messages within a hangout chat. Any user attending a hangout will automatically be added to the related chat.By using Koina, you acknowledge:- You are solely responsible for your behavior and contributions.
- Hangouts hosted on Koina are not affiliated with Koina or any churches mentioned in the app.
- By attending a hangout, you assume all risk and liability associated with your participation.Koina does not moderate or monitor messages or hangout content unless it is reported or otherwise brought to our attention.

6. Reporting & Blocking

Users can report content or behavior they believe violates these Terms. They can also block other users. Blocking a user will:- Prevent them from seeing your created hangouts
- Prevent you from seeing theirs
- Hide all messages sent by that user in shared hangout chatsIf you’d like to report an issue, use the report or block buttons within the app, or email us at [email protected].All reports are manually reviewed, and we reserve the right to suspend or remove accounts or content as appropriate.

7. Termination

We may suspend or permanently remove accounts that violate these Terms or otherwise harm the Koina community. You may also delete your account at any time via the app.

8. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

Koina is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind. We are not responsible for:- The behavior of users or content they post
- Any events or hangouts organized through the app
- Any injuries, damages, or losses that occur as a result of attending a hangout or interacting with others via the appTo the maximum extent permitted by law, Koina disclaims all liability for any harm resulting from your use of the app.

9. Modifications

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we’ll notify you through the app or via email.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, USA, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

2. What Koina Is

Koina helps you connect with people in your church community who share similar interests and life stages. Our goal is to help you build meaningful, faith-based relationships in a safe and trusted space.

3. What We Collect

When you use Koina, we may collect the following information:Personal Information:- Name
- Date of birth
- Gender
- Church you attend
- Profile picture
- Relationship status
- Parental status
- InterestsLogin Information:- Email address and password (handled securely through Firebase)Usage Data:- Basic app usage info (e.g., screens viewed, session times) via PostHog
- Device type and OS (e.g., iPhone, iOS version)
- Crash or performance info (if relevant)Account Activity:- “Hangouts” you create
- Messages you send or receiveWe do not collect sensitive data such as religious beliefs beyond which church you attend, and we do not collect health, financial, or biometric data.

4. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:- Let you create and manage your profile
- Help match you with other users based on your interests and life stage
- Understand how the app is used so we can improve it (via analytics)
- Keep your account secure and support your experienceWe do not sell your personal information to third parties.

5. Third-Party Services We Use

We use trusted third-party services to operate Koina:- Firebase Authentication – for account creation and login
- Cloudflare – to store and deliver profile pictures
- Render – to host our API and database
- PostHog – for analytics on how the app is used (e.g., feature usage, session duration, device info)
- Google Places API – to help users find and select their church by location
- Featurebase – to collect feedback and provide help articles (accessed through in-app browser links — this feedback is not linked to your Koina account unless you include identifying information yourself.)
- Apple App Store – to distribute our iOS app; Apple may collect install, crash, and usage data (see Apple’s privacy policy)These services may process some of your data as part of helping us provide the app. We recommend reviewing their privacy policies if you'd like to learn more about how they handle your information.

6. App Tracking Transparency (ATT)

Koina does not collect data for advertising or cross-app tracking that requires Apple’s App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission. We only collect anonymized analytics data to improve the app's functionality and user experience.If we begin using tracking that requires ATT in the future, we will ask for your permission as required by Apple.

7. Data Storage and Security

Your login credentials are securely managed by Firebase. Other profile data is stored in our backend API and database, hosted by Render. Profile images are stored using Cloudflare.We take appropriate steps to protect your data, including:- Encryption in transit via HTTPS
- Access control on the API
- Secure cloud infrastructure provided by Render and CloudflareWhile no system is 100% secure, we do our best to keep your data safe.

8. How Long We Keep Your Data

We keep your data for as long as you use Koina. If you decide to leave, you can delete your account through the app at any time. This will remove all your personal data.You can also email us at [email protected] to request deletion.When deleted, all your data will be removed from our systems, including:- Login credentials
- Profile and church information
- Profile picture
- Account activity, including any user-generated content (ie hangouts you created or messages sent)
- Any related analytics or feedback data

9. Your Rights

You can:- View or update your personal data anytime through your profile
- Delete your account and data through the app
- Contact us at [email protected] for any privacy-related questions or requestsCurrently, we do not support opt-outs for analytics or data tracking. If this changes in the future, we’ll update this policy.

10. Children’s Privacy

Koina is not intended for users under 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a user under 18 has provided personal information, we will promptly delete that data.

11. International Users

Koina is currently available to users in the United States. If you access the app from outside the U.S., your information may be transferred and stored in the U.S., where our systems are hosted.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we’ll let you know through the app or by email.
